Community Organizing Workshop
Community Organizing Workshop
These workshops are designed to equip community organizers with the core skills needed to build power, move decision-makers, and lead effective campaigns rooted in lived experience. Each session is hands-on, practical, and customizable for volunteers, grassroots leaders, and emerging organizers.
Face-to-Face Organizing & Relational Power Building
This workshop focuses on the foundation of all organizing: relationships. Participants learn how to build trust-based connections through intentional face-to-face conversations, listening sessions, and community engagement. The session emphasizes relational organizing strategies, including identifying personal networks, mapping relationships for impact, and transforming everyday conversations into organizing opportunities that build long-term collective power.
Speaking to Legislators & Power Mapping Systems
Participants learn how to effectively communicate with elected officials and decision-makers in both formal and informal settings. This workshop covers how legislatures operate, how to prepare for meetings, and how to deliver clear, compelling asks that influence policy outcomes. Organizers also practice power mapping to identify key stakeholders, decision points, and leverage opportunities within political systems.
Narrative Crafting & Ethical Storytelling
This session supports organizers in developing their personal and community narratives in a way that is both powerful and ethically grounded. Participants learn how to share lived experience responsibly, avoid extractive storytelling practices, and center dignity and agency in every story. The workshop also explores how narrative shapes public opinion, policy debates, and movement building.
Script Design for Organizing Conversations
Organizers learn how to design effective conversation scripts for canvassing, phone banking, relational outreach, and advocacy meetings. This workshop focuses on clarity, persuasion, and adaptability, helping participants structure conversations that are authentic, goal-oriented, and responsive to different audiences. Participants leave with ready-to-use scripts and frameworks they can immediately apply in the field.
Campaign Strategy & Mobilization Fundamentals
This workshop introduces the building blocks of effective campaigns, including goal setting, target identification, base building, and action planning. Organizers learn how to connect individual conversations to broader campaign goals and how to move people from awareness to action. The session emphasizes discipline, structure, and alignment across organizing efforts.
Advanced Organizing: Sustaining Power & Driving Systems Change
Designed for experienced organizers, this workshop focuses on long-term movement building, coalition development, and sustaining engagement beyond single campaigns. Participants explore how to build leadership pipelines, maintain volunteer energy, and translate organizing wins into systemic policy change. The session also covers burnout prevention and sustainable organizing practices.
Together, these workshops build a complete organizing toolkit from relationship building and storytelling to legislative engagement and campaign execution, equipping organizers to move communities from voice to sustained power.
